Trucks in Pakistan are traditionally very heavily decorated with bright colours, motifs, pictures and poetry. Also used are reflective detailing and chain work which light up the roads at night and also provide a melody as the trucks transform Pakistan’s roads into an open air art gallery.
The items in our new Truck Art range are all hand painted by ageing truck artists for whom the rigors of painting trucks has now become a little too physically demanding.
The truck art motifs that have been painted with industrial paint on everyday objects that represent the truck driver’s journey: enamel utensils specific to the many “dhabbas” or roadside restaurants that serve tea with a “kick” to keep these drivers going on their long journeys through the mountain passes and plains of Pakistan.
This range is the results of an initiative to firstly prolong the artist’s careers as well as bringing their art to a wider audience. To see our truck art inspired range click HERE
